The Minto Childcare Centre project was a Level 1 ASP substation upgrade and underground network relocation delivered by DM Electrical for Innovative Building Services, supporting a new childcare development and completed in a single planned outage. DM Electrical carried out the civil and electrical preparation, network build, and a one-day cutover coordinated with Endeavour Energy.
The project involved significant planning and pre-outage preparation, including civil excavation, conduit installation, and extensive cable pulling for the planned network upgrade. The works were coordinated in line with Endeavour Energy requirements for the interface with the existing supply network.
The scope included upgrading existing overhead high voltage and low voltage infrastructure, installing two new underground distribution kiosks, new private poles, and new overhead service lines. More than 200 metres of trenching was completed through natural strip areas and roadways to set up the new underground network alignment.
Leading up to the planned outage, DM Electrical completed all civil and electrical preparation, including network build, cable installation, and staging so the cutover would go smoothly on outage day.
On the scheduled outage day, coordinated switching was carried out with Endeavour Energy and network operators. DM Electrical completed the full cutover, testing, and commissioning within a single day, energising the new supply as planned.
Because the site was a live commercial environment with connected businesses, continuous supply was critical. Temporary generator support was provided to all affected businesses before and during the outage to keep them running.
Despite the complexity and the tight outage constraints, DM Electrical delivered the project safely and on schedule, completing all testing, commissioning, and energisation within the planned outage window.
