Level 1 ASP Sydney

A Level 1 ASP (Accredited Service Provider) is licensed to work on the network side of your property's electricity supply, including overhead and underground service lines, the point of attachment, and direct connections to the Ausgrid network. DM Electrical holds current Level 1 ASP authority and delivers connection, disconnection, and service-line work across Sydney's Northern Beaches, North Shore, Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, and CBD.

Level 1 work is the layer most electrical contractors cannot legally touch. It covers everything between the street pole and your switchboard, plus the service mains that bring power onto your property. If you are connecting a new build to the grid, upgrading a worn overhead service, or installing a new pillar for a development site, you need a Level 1 ASP authorised by Ausgrid (or Endeavour Energy on the city fringes). Daniel McCormick is on the tools for every job, so the person quoting you is the same person doing the work. That matters when the job involves the network, where mistakes get expensive and decisions need to be made on site.

What a Level 1 ASP Does

  • High Voltage (HV) Infrastructure Works
  • Overhead and Underground Reticulation
  • New and Upgraded Supply Connections
  • Street Lighting Installation
  • Substation Installations and Upgrades
  • LV & HV Asset Relocation
  • Civil Works
  • Distributor Network Connections
  • Earthing Systems
  • Overhead Network Modifications

Our Process

  1. 1
Site visit and scope. We inspect the existing service, identify whether the job needs new mains, an upgrade, or a relocation, and confirm Ausgrid requirements.
  2. 2
Quote and notification. Fixed-price quote with the Ausgrid Connection or Disconnection notification lodged on your behalf.
  3. 3
Scheduled work. We coordinate the supply interruption with the network operator and complete the work in a single visit where possible.
  4. 4
Compliance certification. An Electrical Safety Certificate of Compliance (CCEW) is issued and lodged with NSW Fair Trading, and the network is notified the asset is ready for energisation.

Why DM Electrical

  • Daniel on every job. The owner is a working tradesman, not a despatcher. You speak to the person doing the work.
  • Level 1 and Level 2 in-house. Most network jobs need both. Having both authorities under one truck means no coordination delays.
  • Compliant first time. Every job is signed off with the CCEW lodged on the same day so your network connection is not held up.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Level 1 ASP?

A Level 1 Accredited Service Provider is a contractor authorised by the NSW network operator (Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy) to install, maintain, and repair the overhead and underground service lines that connect a property to the electricity network. A general A-grade electrical contractor is not legally permitted to do this work.

Do I need a Level 1 ASP for a new house build?

Yes, if the property does not already have a connection to the network. The Level 1 ASP installs the service cable from the network pole or pit to your meter box, lodges the connection notification with Ausgrid, and provides the compliance certificate that allows your meter to be installed and the supply energised.

How long does a new service connection take?

From the day we lodge the notification, Ausgrid energisation typically takes 5 to 15 business days depending on whether the connection is overhead or underground and whether new network assets are required. The actual on-site work is usually a single day.

Can you upgrade my overhead service line?

Yes. If your existing overhead is undersized for a new load (such as a 3-phase upgrade, ducted aircon, or EV charger), or if the cable has degraded, we replace it with compliant cable and brackets and reattach it to the building at the correct height above driveways, roofs, and pools.

Do you handle the Ausgrid paperwork?

Yes. We lodge the Connection, Disconnection, or Service Alteration notification with Ausgrid, coordinate with their crew where required, and provide you with the Electrical Safety Certificate of Compliance once the work is signed off.

What is the difference between Level 1 and Level 2?

Level 2 covers consumer mains, switchboard work, meter installations, and disconnection or reconnection from the point of attachment inwards. Level 1 covers the service line itself between the network and your point of attachment. Most jobs involving a network change need both authorities, which is why we hold both.
